Writing your Own Wedding Vows

Writing your Own Wedding Vows
March 4, 2022 by NatalieMartinPhotographer

So you have decided you’re going to be writing your Own Wedding Vows.  Although this can take a lot of work, it can also be such an amazing moment on the day.
An emotional filled moment as you stand looking at each other giving the words from your heart.

Below are some tips to help you on your way.

Writing your Own Wedding Vows

Don't wait till the last minute

We can often leave things to the last minute.  But I have to say this is not one of those times.  Make sure when you’re writing your Own Wedding Vows that you do so about a month before.

You need time to practice those words before the day.  Because on the day you maybe full of wedding nerves, having practiced will help this part be easier.

Writing your Own Wedding Vows

Don't try to include everything

There is going to be so much history there between you.  So many things you want to say about how much you love this person.  But you will need to cut it back.  Think about the top feelings, the top story you have.  The main promise you want to make to that person.

Keep the most important things in your words and let go of the others.

Writing your Own Wedding Vows

make some decisions together first

You will want to make some choices together before you head of writing away.  Decide on how long you are going to keep them too.  If you want to keep any traditional vows in there. Do you want to have generic jokes or something super personal?

By making these decisions together it will make the writing process easier and allow you both to know you are on the same wave length.
