Tips for Wedding Invitations

Invitations are always a minefield of choice so here are some Wedding Invitation Ideas to help.  It’s like choosing a product in a shop and you look at the aisle and they have the same thing in 100 different shaped bottles and labels.

The first thing is to think about if you are going to be super creative and make/write them yourself or if you are going for all done printed ones.

Invitation size and postage

After you have decided what you are doing.  The next thing that I think is important to consider is the size.  If you’re posting the invitations out to everyone you might want to look at what the sizes will cost in postage.  This is a hidden cost we don’t often think about.

The most common invitation is 5 x 7 inches.

You can always do a bigger size for the bridal party though.

Think about the style

Do you want something modern?  Or old looking?  Would you like it folded in some way?
How about landscape or portrait?

The colours of your wedding will often play a part in what you are creating.  Which helps.

Thinking of your venue can help you choose the style.  Having a wedding in a castle maybe you want to go vintage to match.  Or if your having the wedding in a library go for something that looks like a book.
The venue can give you so many ideas to help you decide.

What do you put on them?

The specific information your invitation needs are:

Couple’s Names
Date and Time
Location Name and address
Extra details about the ceremony
Wedding breakfast details and location

There are other extras that although not on the invitation often get sent with it.  Like the Wedding Gift List, and Response cards, sometimes the reception details are separate too.
